Definition of complacency
1 : self-satisfaction especially when accompanied by unawareness of actual dangers or deficiencies
//When it comes to safety, complacency can be dangerous.
2 : an instance of usually unaware or uninformed self-satisfaction

Thank you Webster for that definition.

Is it possible to face your fears, to step into challenge and be complacent? Or does one cancel the other out?

I've written and deleted all my writing on this post twice. Is it fear, perfectionism? I don't believe it's complacency :-)

Nonetheless, I am probing for the cause of dissatisfaction with where I am. The in-between. Am I here at this stage of hunger, hope and seeking change because on some level I am settling, ceasing to address deficiencies, turning a blind eye to dangers?

I found courage in a fellow sojourner who indicated that actually, it's at the edge of one's competency - the fear zone, that energy necessary for the change is found. Moving right up to the edge of ones expertise and pushing that next step is the spot to be if you are to be successful in getting the results you hope to see.

This was brought up during a discussion about getting in front of the people who have a natural benefit when you show up with our perspective, opinions and insight.

So, I'm on a good path. The discomfort can be labeled "growing pain".
